SENIOR PAYLOAD SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Develop new payload solutions for emerging datacom and telecom applications.

These payloads require personnel that can thrive in a challenging new design environment, work well in large teams, and close on complex issues that involve many system level disciplines. Responsibilities include flowing requirements to digital modulators / demodulators, RF circuits, multi-beam and phased array antenna, data switches, payload operations, and payload S/W.

Directly manage a team of payload system engineers performing a combination of requirements flowdown, generation of unit allocations and specifications, analysis of performance, and space segment interface specifications.

Ability to work in an overall system design and development process, with familiarity with user, network, and inter-segment operational dynamics.

Develop compliance algorithms, verification plans, and lead first time test and debug through P/L delivery.

Successful candidate will have proven leadership skills and the ability to lead a diverse group of engineers with talents in communication theory, digital signal processing, data and packet switching, payload operations, verification, analysis, hardware performance.

10-15 Years experience

Education : Bachelors degree or Masters Preferred

Familiarity with on-board Software algorithm and payload ground Software requirements, and integration planning is also desired.

Senior payload engineering to write top level payload test requirements and design new test methods and requirements.

IPT Leader -Electro-Optics Integration & Test manager

This opening is for the manager of integration & test of three major subsystems (optical, thermal and focal plane) for the SBIRS High program.

Candidates for this position will possess a demonstrated ability to manage test article subsystem assembly, test and integration for a complex space-based infrared surveillance sensor, including the development, build and integration of the test instrumentation.

Experience with planning of the operations activities leading to product delivery to the next level of satellite integration is also required.

Tasks to be performed by the organizational staff include: preparation of test plans, development of test procedures, review of performance data acquired at vendor facilities prior to subsystem deliveries, conduct of testing of infrared space surveillance sensors, generation of test reports, analysis of radiometric data acquired during sensor test for presentation to contractor and Government personnel.

Specific requirements of this position include: knowledge of digital circuit design and experience with infrared sensor operation and radiometric performance data, knowledge of infrared calibration techniques, familiarity with testing optical subsystems in a thermal vacuum environment in accordance with Mil-STD-1540, processing of optical systems in a clean room environment, ability to utilize desktop computer analysis, planning, scheduling and documentation programs.

  • Management experience with planning, budgeting and cost/schedule performance assessment.

Experience with MatLab and Microsoft Office preferred.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, minimum of 10 years applicable experience with infrared sensor systems.

Secret Clearance required.

Salary from $90-110K

Payload system engineers with a variety of backgrounds are required to work on new datacom and telecom payloads.

Our payloads tend to be very complex, requiring payload engineers that can combine R.F., signal processing, communications theory, hardware experience, and detailed functional requirements. In addition the ability to analyze difficult comm. problems, integrate knowledge of the system with developing payload designs is essential.

Responsibilities include flowing requirements to digital modulators / demodulators, RF circuits, multi-beam and phased array antenna, data switches, payload operations, and payload software.  

Develop compliance algorithms, verification plans, and participate in first time test and debug through P/L delivery.

Successful candidate will have a background in one or more of the following: communications theory, digital signal processing, payload verification planning, payload operations, R.F. subsystem engineering, performance analysis.

Familiarity with on-board software algorithm and payload ground software requirements, and integration planning is also desired.

We need communication system engineers that can perform the following:
Communications R.F. and signal processing payload requirements flowdown, negotiate customer specifications, provide payload performance predicts, analyze performance degradations.

Payload functional and operations requirements flowdown, design of payload internal data bus and database handling requirements, definition of payload operating procedures, managing information related to beam forming, payload hardware configuration, connectivity, routing, redundancy, gains,
channelization, time delay.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering
