Senior Radar Engineer

MUST MUST HAVE: MARINE CORP RADAR EXPERIENCE

You will Support Marine Corps radar programs validating government requirements, analyzing both current and future Marine Corps radar  systems and sustainment/modernization initiatives.  Specifically, but not limited to, a thorough analysis of new radar technologies for the AN/TPS-59 Product Improvement Program, mobility upgrades and footprint reduction efforts.

- Explore of potential foreign military sales opportunities for the TPS-59.

- Conduct an analysis of the TPS-59 modernization effort to include software updates and Data Processing Group (DPG) technology  refresh.

- Assist technology team members in reviewing, implementing and testing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), to include DPG  technology refresh and incorporation of IFF Mode 5.

- Provide additional support to the Marine Corps Family of Target Acquisition Systems (FTASs) including the AN/TPQ-46 radar.

- Represent the Marine Corps’ interest in the fielding of additional TPQ-46 radars.

- Provide engineering, technical analysis, and other support services to review and analyze various document, including system and  subsystem specifications, trade studies, vendor product data, vendor proposals, response to government requests for  information, review of technical manuals, and review of test reports and analysis.

- Provide radar engineering support for review and analysis of the technology refresh for the Radar Environmental Simulator (RES). a

- Experience with military radar and air defense platforms.

- Knowledge of Marine Corps organization required.  Experience with acquisition of USMC programs desired.  Prior work with MCSC  desired.   

- Experience conducting requirements analysis desired.

- Systems engineering and logistics background beneficial.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or physics is desired with a focus on radar systems.  

- DAU coursework or DAWIA certifications strongly desired.

The individual should have the following:

- Strong organizational skills to prioritize work balance.

- Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers, senior level personnel, subordinates, and team members.

- Good leadership skills and ability to work independently 

- Ability to work in the virtual workplace.

Radar Algorithm Software design Engineer

P2000 Software Development Team Member, Algorithm Specialist. The P2000 project is a fully funded, multiyear, full lifecycle program. The overall program includes a development team of 17+ engineers, software professionals, and support staff working in a common development environment to produce real-time data collection and data quality assurance systems, as well as post mission (off-line) calibration and analysis systems.

This specific position is for a primary radar algorithm development specialist for the post mission systems.

Selected candidate will work with and update the program Algorithm Specification Document (ASD), design and assist others in the design of algorithms, and code algorithms as required.

Requirements of a very dynamic customer entail restructuring, redesigning and rewriting selected existing algorithms and as well as continued expansion in algorithm development beyond program delivery dates and into the foreseeable future.

The team will develop software under local standards as part of a movement toward SEI CMM Level 3 certification.

Work will be accomplished using Intel PC Platforms running Windows XPS, and utilizing Java as the primary programming language.

System will be designed using Object Orientated Design (OOD) and Analysis methodologies. Position reports to the Post Mission Software Section Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Ten years experience in radar algorithm (DSP) development, specifically working with internal radar parameters (I/Q) and radar phenomenon (noise, clutter, RFI).

  • Requires leadership experience in defining project goals and schedules and tracking same; capable of overseeing and mentoring others in the accomplishment of scientific algorithms; five years experience in large-scale development projects.

  • Extensive experience in Matlab or other engineering analysis tools. Working knowledge of Object Oriented Design (OOD), along with Ada, C++ or Java programming skills (beyond academic usage).

  • Must be able to obtain a TS/SSBI clearance.

  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.

  • Ten years experience in programming scientific applications.

  • Project lead experience. Capable of briefing/explaining algorithms to scientific degreed customers.

  • Experience with Rational Clearcase/Clearquest configuration management tools.

  • Experience with MS Office Professional applications.

  • Major software full life-cycle development project expertise.

  • A current TS/SSBI clearance

Defense Algorithm Development and Software for Radar Applications

  • Design Algorithms for Airborne and ground based Radar and Antenna applications.

  • The select candidate will have demonstrated excellence, in radar, signal/data processing, detection and estimation theory

  • You will help create innovative creation of realizable new algorithms, consideration of design constraints and concurrent functions, thread development culminating in the documentation of software requirements in specifications.

  • You will be comfortable with classical solutions (e.g. Kalman Filtering, Bayesian Classification,...) and application to practical problems.

  • You MUST BE Familiar with radar hardware/software items, related functional threads, and algorithm performance models.

  • Able to investigate and analyze performance using both analytic and computer-aided approaches.

  • Able to produce technical documentation including customer briefings, memorandums, and specifications.

  • Able to support the implementation of algorithm into Radar via technical interchanges with hardware and software developers.

  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Math and 5-8 years of experience will be required.  

A existing DoD clearance is a plus, but not mandatory.  Remember, the Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

  •  You will also provide ongoing support to developers to ensure satisfactory implementation and testing.

  • Good verbal communication skills are important as you will conduct customer briefings including design and performance analysis, validation of tactical radar implementation, and flight test performance investigation and reporting.
