Experience with development of space-qualified antenna systems, such as DGR antennas, Gregorian antennas, and multi-spot beam antennas.
Ability to formulate and define key antenna performance characteristics to meet customer requirements within capabilities of our Geostationary Communications Satellite product line. ·
Satellite shaped-reflector antenna and RF feed assembly design and analysis, including computer modeling and design of antenna radiation patterns with associated software design tools (GRASP, POS, CHAMP, SATSOFT, HFSS, WIZARD).
Experience with antenna range testing and data post-processing, including Far-Field, Near-Field, and Compact Range systems.
Scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, and mechanical manufacturing interface support. Cost Account Management skills a strong plus.
Superior written and oral communication skills, comfort with customer interaction, and ability to work in fast-paced team environment.
Experience in technical management of a team of engineers.
Education:
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Chemistry, Engineering, Math, Physics and 10-15 years of industry work experience. An Advanced engineering degree with 10+ years experiences and demonstrated proficiency in RF design and testing of shaped DGR and Gregorian antenna are a plus.
Job Description:
Design and analysis of shaped-reflector antenna systems for the Geostationary Communications Satellite product line.
Ability to lead new development activities and to solve complex antenna design, manufacturing, and test issues
Ability to oversee the complete development and space-qualification of shaped-reflector antenna systems from performance definition to final spacecraft-level test, including cost, schedule, and technical responsibility.
Generation of key procurement and hardware development documents including Performance Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Test Plans and Procedures, and Statements of Work.
Conduct preliminary and advanced design studies and prepare and present major portions of engineering proposals. Conceive and develop solutions to complex analytical, design, and test problems that program's) experience. Contribute to systems philosophy and design objectives. Analyze and resolve important failures in test and service, often without recourse to intense theoretical studies and test programs.
Assure continuity of design features from advanced design through contract completion. Write complex specifications and engineering reports as a result of advance studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.
Develop aspects of new theory and design criteria for general application.
Technical assistance to Subcontracts in the negotiation of component specifications, deliverables, cost, and schedule.
Subcontractor management and continuous technical monitoring throughout the procurement life cycle (some travel required).
Integration and test support for the antenna systems including unit-level functional and environmental testing, spacecraft level RF range testing, and in-orbit checkout.
Support to Geostationary Communications Satellite New Business office on antenna performance and cost estimates for rapid turn-around proposals.
Candidate will be expected to have frequent interaction with Program Managers, the customer, and Systems Engineering.
Candidate may be expected to provide hands-on, technical and supervisory leadership to a small team of engineers.
