Experience with development of space-qualified antenna systems, such as DGR antennas, Gregorian antennas, and multi-spot beam antennas. Job Description: Design and analysis of shaped-reflector antenna systems for the Geostationary Communications Satellite product line. Ability to lead new development activities and to solve complex antenna design, manufacturing, and test issues Ability to oversee the complete development and space-qualification of shaped-reflector antenna systems from performance definition to final spacecraft-level test, including cost, schedule, and technical responsibility. Generation of key procurement and hardware development documents including Performance Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Test Plans and Procedures, and Statements of Work. Conduct preliminary and advanced design studies and prepare and present major portions of engineering proposals. Conceive and develop solutions to complex analytical, design, and test problems that program(s) experience. Contribute to systems philosophy and design objectives. Analyze and resolve important failures in test and service, often without recourse to intense theoretical studies and test programs. Assure continuity of design features from advanced design through contract completion. Write complex specifications and engineering reports as a result of advance studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities. Develop aspects of new theory and design criteria for general application. Technical assistance to Subcontracts in the negotiation of component specifications, deliverables, cost, and schedule. Subcontractor management and continuous technical monitoring throughout the procurement life cycle (some travel required). Integration and test support for the antenna systems including unit-level functional and environmental testing, spacecraft level RF range testing, and in-orbit checkout. Support to Geostationary Communications Satellite New Business office on antenna performance and cost estimates for rapid turn-around proposals. Candidate will be expected to have frequent interaction with Program Managers, the customer, and Systems Engineering. · The candidate will work in a senior technical role on National Security Systems (NSS) programs. · This position focuses on development of new systems and concepts through production of flight programs. As a principal engineer, the candidate will lead new development activities to solve complex antenna design, performance, manufacturing and test issues. The candidate will work in a team environment to define and describe robust RF solutions to challenging applications while working within system constraints on mass, power, and volume. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, ability to organize and direct the efforts of a small engineering team, and demonstrated motivation to investigate new concepts. In particular, the candidate will be involved in - Design, analysis and development of space-qualified antenna solutions for geostationary communications satellites operating in the 1 to 30 GHz range. Work closely with mechanical engineering team to ensure the ideal RF solution is also manufacturable and testable. - Requirements flow-down from top-level customer document through subsystem-level definition to component-level specification. The candidate is expected to produce clear, concisely written documents that will be used as the technical basis for high dollar value procurements. - Prepare and present design reviews for internal and external customers. The candidate will have regular interaction with the internal engineering and program management team as well as the external customer. - Subcontractor management (some travel required) and manufacturing interface definition including performance specification, interface control drawing, statement of work and test plan/procedure generation. The candidate will work closely with potential subcontractors to ensure any technical solution meets the top-level customer's needs while satisfying system and program constraints. - After transition from concept to production program, the candidate may also support ongoing technical interface with the subcontractors during antenna manufacturing, as well as integration and test of the antenna system including unit-level range and environmental testing, spacecraft level range testing, and in-orbit checkout.
